Planning Application April 2021 – The Granary Ref 21/00416/FUL erection of garden shed

Wildflower Planting – March 2021

There has been a good response to the proposed application for a grant to plant wild flowers along some of the verges of the village.  Over 20 people have expressed their views.  There was a majority in favour of submitting the application jointly with the Castle Trust.  However, a number of residents did state opposition, some of which was strongly expressed.  It doesn’t feel therefore that there is sufficient consensus within the village for the application to proceed with the Parish Meeting’s support. The Castle Trust have been informed.
Thanks to people who took the trouble to respond.

At the August meeting of the Parish Meeting a small working group was established to look at how we could improve the environmental amenities of the village in collaboration with the Hopton Castle Trust.  That group reported back to our last meeting in January and, of the number of ideas examined, one was selected for further exploration.

As a consequence, it is proposed to make a joint application to Shropshire Hills AONB Conservation Fund for funding for the planting of wild flowers in the castle grounds and verges in the village.  There are no proposals for this application to cause any call on the funds of the Parish Meeting.  If that were to be the case this could only be approved by a properly convened meeting of residents.

A copy of the draft application can be downloaded below together with a map of where it is proposed to site the wild flowers.  Residents’ views on this application are invited so that, before it is submitted, there can be confidence that people have been consulted and there is support for this initiative.

If you do have any comments or vews you can leave them at the section for comments at the bottom of this page or email them directly to me at jon.allen@allen-haynes.com.  Please let me have these by the 3rd March 2021 so that the application can take account of these by the submission deadline of 8th March.

The report that went to the last Parish Meeting can be viewed below.
