Present: John Williams (Chair), Veronica Mellings, Anne Williams, Peter Marquis (visitor), Jon Allen and Sue Williams.
Apologies: Jane Stirling
- Minutes of the meeting of 8th November 2017.
These were agreed.
- Matters arising
- Notice Board
An estimate has been received from Ted Laidlar for £69.35 for materials for repair and improvements to the notice board. It was agreed to accept with thanks together with Ted’s generous offer to undertake the work himself.
- Pot Holes
Some work had been undertaken by the highways dept. It was agreed that Veronica Mellings would contact the highways dept. regarding maintenance works required to the verges and a pot hole adjacent to the Castle.
- Dangerous tree assessment
Jane Stirling had contacted Shropshire County Council to seek advice. In the light of that advice and the likely cost to the Parish Meeting it was agreed that there would be no further action. However, if any resident has concerns over the safety of a tree they should first raise the matter with the relevant landowner. If that does not satisfactorily resolve the matter they should raise the matter with the Parish Meeting officers or the County Council directly.
- Stream maintenance
No action has been taken since the last meeting. It was agreed that Peter Marquis would arrange a meeting with the Environment Agency to ensure that any work undertaken by the village was compliant with any standard or regulations. Peter Marquis will ensure any interested residents are invited to attend the meeting once it has been arranged.
- Village community defibrillator
Jon Allen has submitted an application for funding to the National Lottery fund and expects a reply sometime over the next four to six weeks. Noted.
The last fundraising event at the Village Hall on 27th January raised £211.00. This means we have already raised nearly 25% of the initial funding required. Noted.
The deadline for seeking to raise a precept for 2018/19 has been missed. It was agreed that Jane Stirling will discuss the process for raising the precept with Shropshire County Council and ensure a precept is raised for the next financial year.
- Planning application for chicken sheds at Hopton Heath
Jon Allen has submitted an objection on behalf of the Parish Meeting. A copy has been posted on the web site and Face Book page. The applicants have now submitted revised plans to Shropshire Council. It was agreed that further objections to the revised plans together with re-iterating the Parish Meeting’s existing objections be submitted to the Council by Jon Allen.
- Any other business
- Fold Barn
The occupants have approached the Chair (John Williams) seeking the Parish Meeting’s support for a change of name to the property. It was agreed that there should be no action and that a letter be sent explaining that this was a matter outside of the remit of the Parish Meeting.
- Date of the next meeting
It was agreed that the AGM will be held on 1st May 2018 t the village hall. If that date was not available then either the 2nd or 8th May.
The meeting closed at 8.40pm.
